Enrollment Period for New Applicants Enrollment of new applicants begins in February, following an enrollment priority period for current families. The following priorities are observed in determining admission:

  • Classroom space availability
  • Currently enrolled students
  • Siblings of currently enrolled students
  • Balancing of ages and genders in each classroom
  • Date of application and student evaluation

New Child Visit If your child’s name is placed on our waiting list and there is a space available, we will arrange a mutually convenient time for you and your child to visit with a teacher. The teacher will observe your child working with classroom materials, and you will be asked to complete a questionnaire about your child.

Invitation to Enroll Following your new child visit, the school will send a letter inviting you to enroll your child at Bala House Montessori. The letter will contain an enrollment contract describing important enrollment terms and conditions.

Submit a Contract To hold a space for your child, a contract must be completed, signed, and returned by the date specified on your enrollment letter. Also, a nonrefundable deposit of $500 must accompany the contract. This deposit will be applied to the year’s tuition.

Enrollment Confirmation A copy of your contract, payment schedule, and medical forms will be mailed to you after your contract has been signed by the Admissions Director and deposit has been processed.

Return Required Forms Before your child’s first day of school, all forms (emergency contact, emergency medical, child health report, medical dietary, tumble tots, and photo release) must be returned. On October 15th, we are legally required to exclude any child who does not have current medical forms on file.

Classroom Assignments Class placements are made by the Admissions Director, with every effort to maintain balance within the classrooms with respect to age and sex of the children. Children are assigned to a classroom in which they will work with the same teacher for their entire time at Bala House. Parents will be notified of classroom assignments in August.
