Extended Care

Bala House Montessori offers working families one of the best extended care programs on the Main Line and greater Philadelphia area. This nurturing and enriching program includes quality morning care from 7:45am until 8:30am and afternoon care from 3pm until 5:45pm.

Morning Extended Care

Children who are dropped off between 7:45am  and 8:30am engage in quiet activities as they prepare for their day. They can be found reading a book, working on a puzzle, or writing in their journal.

Afternoon Extended Care

Bala House’s afternoon extended care program (3:00pm-5:45pm) combines many of the practical life experiences found in our morning Montessori classrooms. Extended care children also enjoy outdoor play, blocks, dress-up clothes, games,  story time, puzzles, theme-based learning projects, creative and imaginary play, and enriching group interactions.

While not all the extended care materials are typical of a Montessori classroom, the program is consistent with Montessori principles. Freedom of choice in activities is bounded by the responsibility to make positive, healthy, and safe choices individually and as a group. A small snack is provided at 3:15pm and 5pm.
